Big Dog Running Co recently opened in Auburn in the GlenDean Shopping Center next to Hastings and Chappy’s. This store is already having a great impact on our community. Most people don’t realize that they offer a free running clinic every third Tuesday of the month. My husband and I were going on Tuesday and were a little late, so we shopped for some shoes for Brycen instead and were able to eavesdrop a little on the running clinic. The running coach was filming each person run and giving instructions on how to correct their form, run more efficiently and stay injury free. This is an amazing way for people who are interested in running to get started. Did I mention that it’s FREE?
How I found out about the Free Running Clinic was going by Big Dog on Tuesday. They do a free running test (no appointment needed) where they video your running pattern and make sure that you are wearing the correct shoes for your feet. This is Phillip Burks–
Phillip was extra patient while I tried on shoes and made sure that they corrected my running to prevent injury. Tuesday evening when we were late for the running clinic, he also helped Brycen find the perfect shoes, too! Phillip is very good at teaching about the different shoes, running form and really knows his stuff. Much more, he treated every person who came into Big Dog with extra care—determined to find out what their needs were and how he could help. If you need shoes or just have an interest in running, Phillip’s your guy!
One of the most awesome things that Big Dog is doing is actually happening TONIGHT! They are hosting Jeff Galloway (www.jeffgalloway.com) tonight at the store from 6-8!
Jeff Galloway’s Run Walk Run Program has helped countless people learn out to run and enjoy it! He speaks to over 200 groups a year and has helped over 200,000 average people train to their running and fitness goals. Jeff is an amazing and inspiring individual. Reading his book Running, Getting Started has been my
guide for training for the half marathon my husband and I are running in November.
