Do you know that the First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit expires in 54 days? Typically loans are taking 45 days to process, so now is the time to put a contract on a home if you want to close by that time. The other little known fact about the Tax Credit is that if you haven’t owned a home in the past three years, you also qualify for the $8,000 tax credit.
There are so many great deals in Auburn, AL and Opelika, AL right now. For a list of short sales and foreclosure properties, please email me or Ryan. Buying a great deal at less than 5% interest is a fantastic way to go.
The other thing I wanted to point out is the benefit of obtaining a 15 year mortgage versus a 30 year mortgage. The RATE is lower, and the payment amount is not too much higher! This means that MORE money goes to your principle, and over time the amount of money you pay in interest over the life of the loan is dramatically reduced. I have a neat little chart from my Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University Class that I can scan and email you if you are interested.
