
The holiday season may be over, but the fun is only just beginning. Members of the Opelika and Auburn community are invited to participate two upcoming events to help celebrate the all the beauty nature has to offer, while simultaneously getting ready for warm spring weather that can’t come soon enough!
Feburary 18th – Arbor Day Celebration
This event will be hosted by Keep Opelika Beautiful in conjuction with the community garden opening. The Opelika Tree Commission with be providing a tree planting demonstration with City Horticulturist, Justin Sutton, and will also be giving away tree seedlings. There will be an Arbor Day poster contest, and winners will be announced on the day of the event with prizes given. Other activites taking place that morning will include a seed workshop, lease information for the community garden, tours of the garden, and various fun events for children! March 7th – Citywide Cleanup
Volunteers of Keep Opelika Beautiful will be participating in the Citywide Cleanup. This local effort is an extension of the national program, Great American Cleanup. This event encourages citizens to seize the opportunity to join together to fight against litter. Over 250 volunteers joined Keep Opelika Beautiful in 2014. This year, let’s make it even more.
