Toys for Tots Fun Run
This upcoming Saturday, December 6th, a 5K, 10K, and 1 mile fun run will take place at Auburn High School. The 5K and 10K will start at 7:30 a.m. and the 1 mile run will begin at 9 a.m. The run raises toys and money for the local chapter of Toys for Tots. Registered participants are asked to please donate a new toy before the race as part of their registration.
Opelika Chamber of Commerce Annual Christmas Parade
On Saturday, December 6th, beginning at 11 a.m. the annual Christmas Parade will take place in beautiful Historic Downtown Opelika, and will feature over seventy-five entries, including festive floats, marching bands, beauty queens, and of course Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus! Afterwards, be sure to stick around as there plenty of unique specialty shops to visit in the area along with a plethora of fabulous food options downtown. There are also lots of special activities “in the works” for after the parade which haven’t been announced yet! This will be an exciting community event for the entire family to enjoy.
Holiday Wreath Workshop
Also taking place this Saturday, the Ham Wilson Arena will host a fun afternoon of making beautiful wreaths or sprays with natural elements for your home’s holiday decor. This event will start at 2 p.m. Music and delicious snacks will be provided during the festivities. Children 6 and older can join a parent to help make an ornament as well. E-mail preserve@auburn.edu to reserve your space. Space is limited to the first 25 registrants. With your registration email, please indicate if you will create a wreath or spray and if you will be bringing a child and their age. Admission is $25 per wreath or spray. All proceeds benefit the Forest Preserve & Nature Center (formerly Forest Ecology Preserve.)
The Polar Express Movie at Frank Brown Recreation Center
End your Saturday with a FREE showing of “The Polar Express” at the Frank Brown Recreation Center on December 6 at 4:30 p.m. Everyone is invited so be sure to bring your friends and family to enjoy this holiday classic. Attendees are encouraged to bring tailgate chairs or a blanket.
