Head out to the E.W. Shell Fisheries Research Center on Saturday, September 20th for an educational expo and fun field day presented by The Auburn University School of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences. This event will last from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and will be free and open to the public. Attendees will have an opportunity to tour the ponds and facilities, as well as sample food from various vendors. The fish market will have extended hours during the event, and there will be plenty of child friendly fun with live music, and informational presentations from the faculty at the center.
Eric Peatman, the organizer of the event and associate professor at the school wants the public to know that, “The goal of the event is to bring more awareness to our research and our resources. Our program is one of the best in the country and we want to take advantage of a football-free Saturday to share what we do with the Auburn community and the Auburn family.” The Auburn vs. Kansas State football game will be played on Thursday September 18th, therefore the expo and field day will be a perfect way to spend a beautiful September Saturday with friends and family.
The E.W. Shell Fisheries Station is located at 2101 N. College St. For more information on the expo and field day, contact Eric Peatman at 334-734-4611 or peatmer@auburn.edu.
