Opelika’s “Back to the Dawg House” youth football camps is on its 8th year of fun and coaching from former Opelika High School football players, several of which have gone on to play for colleges and even professionally.
“It’s a good way to stay in touch and come back together” stated Will Herring, a former OHS player who also played for AU and the New Orleans Saints.
2012 graduates Cameron Hill and D’Marious Howard were among 10 veteran players who came back for the session on Saturday.
Of the session, AU running back Corey Grant said, “I love it. This is my first time actually coming back and helping out with the camp. I think it means a lot because I remember when I was in their shoes and I was young, I used to look up to college players and pro players. Us being from Opelika, it just adds more.”
The sense of community and brotherhood that these players all feel can only come from a community like Opelika. Another reason our community is a great place to live!
