An interesting meeting at my favorite place, Toomer’s Coffee Company

I had a very interesting meeting yesterday regarding the local and national real estate market yesterday at Toomer’s Coffee Company and Roastery here in beautiful Auburn, Alabama. One thing that is so very important is working with a lender whom you can trust. RESPA laws have recently been altered concerning the laws surrounding mortgages to make them more transparent. That is a great move in the right direction. One thing most consumers do not realize, though, is that this means it can take longer to close a transaction. Many lenders and realtors say that gone are the days of closing two transactions (a sale and a purchase) on the same day. Some lenders say that this can still happen. I believe it can, but it is going to require excellent communication between ALL parties to make it work.

Interest Rates Drop!!!

Rates fell below 5% again today with an average for 30 year fixed mortgages coming in at 4.875%!

15 year fixed rates start a half of a percentage lower at 4.375%. Make sure to talk with your mortgage professional about the benefits of doing a 15 year loan, or you can call one of us!
